Biloxi Miss. (WXXV) – Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann met with several Coast officials to discuss the 2022 legislative session.

Hosemann says the most important topic discussed at the briefing was the American Rescue Plan Act.

The state dedicated $750 million in ARPA funds to water and sewer infrastructure for cities, counties, and rural water associations.

Cities and counties which received more than $1 million from the federal government can receive a 1 to 1 matching grant of state ARPA funds for water and sewer infrastructure.

Cities who received less than one million are eligible for a two to one match from the state.

Overall, this year’s legislative session was the largest Hosemann has ever seen. “We did everything from medical marijuana to equal pay from teacher pay raise to infrastructure. I mean you can’t think of just about anything the legislature didn’t address this year. There has never been a year like there was this year.”

Applications for the Rural Water Association Grants will be available from the Department of Health in the next couple of weeks.
